On Tuesday 1st December, West Papuans were commemorating their national day and 54 years to the day since the West Papuan flag was first raised in 1961. Today in West Papua, several West Papuan monks were reportedly arrested and beaten by the Indonesian police for peacefully demonstrating against the killing of youths and children. A local journalist was also attacked by the Indonesian police.
