In 2019, the people of West Papua launched their largest uprising in 20 years, marching against racism and calling for a referendum on independence. The West Papuan liberation movement made great strides forward internationally, securing the support of 79 heads of state from Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) in December.

The meeting, ‘The West Papua Uprising: Where Next?’, has been called by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on West Papua (APPG), chaired by Alex Sobel MP, and will take place on March 23 at 3PM in the Jubilee Room.

Speakers include:

  • Benny Wenda, Chairman of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua;
  • Others, TBC.

If you wish to attend, please email us on office@ipwp.org, and let us know if your MP is willing to attend.
