Free West Papua Campaign Newsletter October 2014

Last month sadly saw the passing of the long term West Papuan leader, Dr John Otto Ondawame. He recently made major strides forward in the Pacific region getting recognition for the West Papuan cause and bringing the issue to the table of the Melanesian Spearhead Group. He will always be remembered and his tireless work for the people of West Papua is an inspiration to us all.

We also want to remind you of the continued incarceration of the two French journalists who were reporting in West Papua. Please do what you can to highlight the issue of press freedom in West Papua. Thank you for your continued support.

New documentary about Benny Wenda

We are delighted to share with you the release of a new feature length documentary film about Nobel Peace Prize Nominee and Free West Papua Campaign founder Benny Wenda, “The Road to Home”. Filmed over a 2 year period by British filmmaker Dominic Brown, it provides a rare insight into the life and times of this freedom fighter and his tireless struggle to liberate his people from Indonesian colonial rule.
