Campaign and Media Co-ordinator (Maternity Cover)

This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in joining a dynamic international group working for West Papua’s campaign for self-determination.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and well organised Campaign and Media Co-ordinator to work closely with West Papuan representatives, our international campaign team, our global networks, and the media to increase public support and engagement to deliver the Free West Papua Campaign’s overall campaign strategy.

With cultural sensitivity and excellent interpersonal and communication skills you will coordinate and work collaboratively with others to develop an efficient communications and media network, and deliver successful campaigns and events.

Salary: £25,725 – £30,000 (pro-rata) plus 5% pension contribution

Duration: This is a temporary role for maternity cover up to a maximum of 12 months
Hours: Part-time 4 days per week
Location: The Free West Papua Campaign Office, Oxford

Main responsibilities

  • Working with our international team to plan and deliver a series of campaigns which engage people around the world to take action in support of a Free West Papua
  • Responding to urgent human rights situations in West Papua by coordinating urgent action campaigns and attracting media attention
  • Coordinating our international team, over-see roles, responsibilities and development of a small group of team members.
  • Organising and coordinating events across the UK and occasionally internationally, including meetings, conferences, demonstrations, exhibitions, fundraising events, music concerts and public speaking events
  • Managing media relations and development.
  • Maintaining and expanding the Free West Papua Campaign’s public profile and supporter base; assisting in managing contact databases and stakeholder communications.
  • Representing the Free West Papua Campaign at special events as necessary

Experience

  • Experience of conceptualising, organising, and delivering campaigns
  • Experience of engaging with journalists and the media to disseminate urgent news and actions and to build a campaigns media coverage
  • Experience of organising events
  • Experience of team management/coordination

  • Good knowledge of international relations and diplomacy

Part Time Office and Finance Administrator (applications now closed)

The Free West Papua Campaign seeks a part-time administrator. Working 2 days per week you will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, managing merchandise orders and providing administrative and communications support e.g. answering email enquiries. Applicants must be numerate, organised and preferably have previous experience of an administrative role. Experience of using Xero accounting software is desirable but training can be provided.
